Molecular Formula

What is Molecular Formula?

A molecular formula shows the exact number of atoms of each element present in one molecule of a compound. It is derived from the empirical formula by multiplying by an integer factor. For example, the molecular formula of glucose is C₆H₁₂O₆. Molecular formulae do not convey structural information about how atoms are connected; structural or condensed formulae are needed for that purpose.
