M

Mole Fraction

What is Mole Fraction?

Mole fraction (χ) is the ratio of the number of moles of one component to the total number of moles of all components in a mixture. Mole fractions are dimensionless and sum to 1 for all components in a mixture. They are used in Raoult's law calculations for vapour pressure, and to express the composition of gas mixtures. Mole fraction is unaffected by temperature or pressure changes.
