What is Mixture?

A mixture is a combination of two or more substances that are physically combined but not chemically bonded, and that retain their individual properties. Mixtures can be separated by physical means such as distillation, filtration, or chromatography. They may be homogeneous (uniform composition, e.g. salt water) or heterogeneous (non-uniform, e.g. sand and water). No energy is exchanged during the formation of a mixture.
