Metalloids

What is Metalloids?

Metalloids (also called semimetals) are elements with properties intermediate between those of metals and nonmetals, typically found along the staircase boundary on the periodic table. They include boron (B), silicon (Si), germanium (Ge), arsenic (As), antimony (Sb), and tellurium (Te), with some classifications also including polonium and astatine. Metalloids are semiconductors and are critically important in the electronics industry, particularly silicon in transistors and integrated circuits.
